CNC Machinist Programmer
The CNC Machinist Programmer is a member of the Keene manufacturing team whose primary responsibility is the operation and programming of any of the CNC machines resident at the Keene site. This is a highly skilled technical role requiring attention to detail, critical thinking and adherence to programming standards. This individual should be proficient in G & M and macro programming used in machines. As with all other roles within Tidland Keene, this individual must adhere to all documented safety and manufacturing policies and procedures, as well as be flexible enough to assist in other areas as business needs dictate.
We are a Lean manufacturing shop; and as such, we require flexibility, problem-solving, teamwork and process ownership from all employees.
We have two 3rd shift opportunities.
Job Requirements
1. Write and edit existing programs in G&M code to translate engineering drawings and requirements into compliant hardware.
2. Set up and maintain machines per standard procedures as required to perform milling, drilling, and turning operations as applicable.
3. Perform milling, drilling, and turning operations per engineering drawings and standard procedures.
4. Select proper feeds and speeds for drilling, milling, and tapping different types of material.
5. Clean and maintain all tooling and clamps at established service intervals. Check daily for proper fluid levels.
6. Identify completed work according to established quality control procedures and move to proper holding area for disposition.
7. Charge time appropriately using the AS-400 time keeping system.
8. Maintain neat and clean working area, including the removal and disposal of machined chips from machine base.
9. Wear and maintain proper PPE per established standards.
Physical Demands:
A. Ability to exert up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, 50 lbs. of force frequently and 20 lbs of force constantly to move product.
B. Good corrected vision, depth perception, color vision, and field of vision. Prescription safety glasses may be required.
C. Strenuous position requires continuous bending, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, lifting, pulling, twisting, grasping, hand/finger dexterity, eye to hand and physical coordination.
Education Requirements
1. High school diploma or equivalent; with one to three years specialized training in the machining trades.
2. Requires the understanding of shop mathematics together with engineering drawings, specifications, and various types of precision measuring instruments.
3. One to three years of specific CNC operation and programming experience is desired.
4. Computer proficiency is required.
5. Requires the use of judgment to plan, perform and make decisions as to the sequence of set-ups, operations and processes within the limitations of established or standard methods and procedures.
6. Constant alertness and continuous mental and visual attention required to monitor machining process.
