Camas, WA-Tidland Corporation, a leader in the design and engineering of slitting and winding products for the web handling industry, announces the immediate availability of a new blade guard designed to protect operators from injury as part of a wider initiative to increase safety at the slitter.
Designed to be an affordable way to further reduce the likelihood of a slitting injury, the new blade guard acts as an additional barrier between an operator's hand and sharp blades. The guard is constructed using durable materials and low-cost manufacturing methods to ensure affordability and attaches easily to an existing Performance Series Knifeholder. Additional material at the front of the knifeholder deflects the motion of an operator's hand away from the web and provides critical reaction time.
The new blade guards are part of a greater product offering reflecting a long-term commitment to continuous improvement in slitter safety. Examples of products designed specifically for slitter safety include; reversible blade cartridges that allow blade changes to be made off-line, electronic slitter positioning systems that reduce operator contact with sharp blades, and operator training programs. Special enhancements to existing machinery are also available upon review with a Tidland slitting engineer.
