Magnetic particle brakes and clutches use a fine magnetic powder packed between a rotor and housing to transmit torque. An electrical current locks the powder into chains, and adjusting that current changes how much torque passes through, giving precise control independent of shaft speed. A brake resists rotation against a fixed housing to manage unwind tension; a clutch connects two rotating shafts to transmit torque between them. MAGPOWR brakes and clutches are used for web tension control, load testing, and controlled deceleration.
