Componex Thru-Shafts Overview

Componex Thru-Shaft options are engineered to optimize your dead-shaft idler performance. With a choice of solid or tubular designs, these shafts balance durability, weight savings, and corrosion resistance.

Stub shafts are ideal when space is tight or weight matters. By replacing a full-length through-shaft with a short, rigidly mounted stub shaft, you gain clearance, cut handling weight, and boost critical-speed performance. On long rollers that use smaller-diameter bearings, stub shafts eliminate the resonant “shaft whip” that can occur with a through-shaft.

Engineered Design & Key Benefits

Componex Shafts are designed for long-term reliability in all your web-handling applications.

  • Hard chrome plating resists scratches, divets, rust, and corrosion for years of reliable service
  • Weight-saving tubular design reduces mass while still allowing for tapped or turned-down ends
  • Stub-shaft option simplifies installation, reduces weight, and eliminates shaft whip on longer rolls
  • Multiple materials, steel, stainless, or aluminum, to meet application-specific needs
  • Reliable performance even under high speeds, tension, and thermal expansion conditions

Common Applications

  • Converting and laminating lines
